Deep Dive into Trellis is a three-term course running from September 2026 to July 2027, carefully structured to guide you through foundational, intermediate, and advanced stages of working with Trellis Patterns. Each term brings a new set of skills, from classic Trellis to intricate embellishments using speciality threads and materials.
Term 1: We’ll begin by building a strong technical base—focusing on even spacing, parallel lines, and mastering basic Trellis Stitches and simple fillings such as Cross Stitch, Satin Stitch, Bullion Knots, French Knots, and Lazy Daisies.
Term 2: With the basics are under your belt, we’ll introduce more variety and creative approaches. This term is about pushing the boundaries and trying new techniques such as Double Trellis, Battlement Couching, Wrapped, Knotted and Woven fillings.
Term 3: In the final term, we’ll dive into rich textures using beads, sequins, and Goldwork threads to create the Trellis Grids and the decorative embellishments.
Designed for those with a basic understanding of embroidery Surface Stitches, this Deep Dive moves beyond basic Trellis fillings to explore more unusual techniques and supports you to deepen your confidence and elevate your skills.
